The Switch-Blade
The Switch-blade
Her past had begun to fade.
She really wanted it to; somehow.
Then the memories came back like a sharp switch-blade.
First was her father- who never stayed.
Who would walk her down the aisle now?
Her past had begun to fade.
After came a guy- whom she became afraid.
What was she to do now?
Then the memories came back like a sharp switch-blade.
Finally came her first boyfriend-whom alcohol was a Band-Aid.
Which she would never allow.
Her past had begun to fade.
After came another boyfriend- whom she was played.
Whom she never would have said a vow.
Then the memories came back like a sharp switch-blade.
It’s been like a decade.
Will the memories ever leave her now?
Her past had begun to fade.
Then the memories came back like a sharp switch-blade.
