The Swan
THE SWAN
by
JOHN M. ARRIBAS
There is a elegant black swan that dominates the scene
A beguiling creature, showing elegance to the extreme
So enrapturing, so magnificent, so pure, so pristine
You use a lifetime in order for this beauty to be seen
She awaits you at the shore where the boatman plies
She senses you, leads you, blindly for she has no eyes
She will beckon to follow, as you lose your earthy ties
She will guide you to the dock where the boatman plies
Earthy ties will dissolve like the fog, when the sun arrives
Take a seat in the dory: final voyage, that no one survives
The boatman quietly propels the dory with ghostly strides
To the left, dark, to the right, bright; dazzling the eyes
The deeds left behind you, will select where you’ll reside
