The Sun Ascends, the Sun Descends
~2/9/14~
The sun ascends, the sun descends
Leave me alone, loneliness
The morning mourns bitterly – the hummingbird’s song mends
The stranger holds in his distress
The singer hesitates and sings no more
Her eyes are bloodshot
Illuminating sun spreads sweat upon me like butter on toast…
The sunrays hit me to the core
The desert’s winds are dry and hot
The sun ascends, the sun descends
The sun ascends, the sun descends
As I wait patiently for a sincere reply to my prayer,
I must prepare for future’s company by doing tedious errands
His miracles bestow upon me…I’m no longer a debt-payer
Nor am I that little boy that’s immature
My house is unkempt and I’m juggling doubt
I must train to be a loyal host and choose the right route
The ferocious darkness, with its sharp, black talons,
Chases away high hopes and optimistic spirits,
Once motivating me to be zealous – you scared me out of my wits
I was caught off guard, but my zeal comes back and hands me loaded guns
Ooh! Beat that! My positivity and pride weighs tons
I pick up after my “sweetheart” niece when she spills her plastic beads on the grubby, brown carpet (but I won’t be upset)
I’ll encourage myself to pick up good deeds and forget about the adversaries of the past that are eager to make me feel regret
The sun ascends, the sun descends
The sun ascends, the sun descends
The dusk grows colder than ice, but the dawn drives it away – I’m very grateful!
Animated mockingbirds let out earsplitting chirps, welcoming a remarkable day
Barely surviving in this morning heat – it’s unsettling to the extreme – this ain’t cool!
The night dries out in the sun like a raisin; I want it to remain this way, but I’ll soon embrace dismay
My faith is as puny as a germ . . . I’m the virus of sin
The soldier says boldly with pride, “Let the battle begin!”
The pack of hungry wolves approaches me – I’m their target! I’m their victim!
I can hardly breathe; my heart pounds vigorously like a drum; my feet feel like lead
But I’m still running at full speed – my conviction will never dim
My dreams will become a reality and my cup will be filled up to the rim
They tore my peace into pieces of chaos, my soul remains disheartened and grim
The sun ascends, the sun descends
I can’t move a muscle anymore…let them bad wolves eat me with vicious greed
For I’ll remain in need and I’ll be an unnourished seed
Sooner or later, I’ll be their upcoming dinner, devoured ruthlessly
The sun ascends, the sun descends
