The Streets Are Empty
The streets are empty, the pavements bare,
All I can do now is wonder and stare.
The people are silent as if on some drug
Perhaps all they need now is humanities hug.
This invisible virus is deadly they say,
Best we stay inside to keep it at bay.
Inside our houses and our comfort zones
the governments are at us with money and loans,
I don’t have the answers but I do have my gut,
And this is all leading into a nasty little rut.
So come on people you must do you part,
Don’t be an idiot become someone smart,
Wear your masks and stay at home,
Don’t venture out, do not travel to Rome
Some of this makes no sense at all,
But we are not weak and will stand tall.
So pitch the tents, roll the vaccine,
The agenda has become somewhat routine.
One has to wonder how long will this last,
Our askance is failing and so very fast.
