Notes About The Poem

THE STOLEN HOUR

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The stolen hour pools beneath the streetlamp, damp asphalt drinking the phantom light. We unwind the taut spring of summer, let the gears groan backward through their teeth. Shadows stretch like taffy, pulling dusk across the threshold too soon. Each dial surrenders to the ritual theft~ morning owes us what the evening keeps.
Sweetened goo lures the child within us. Tossing and turning, unable to shrug off the aftereffects of sugary sweets that measure time, alarming us to stay awake. Our dreams are stolen, and our nightmares traverse, restless angels pitchfork awakes. Morning lingers in the light; what the night held was the truth, Aloha, William.
This is not only deep, but holds a quietness, and power. Beautiful- "morning owes us what evening keeps"
