The State of Our Land
In living in my homeland over 60 years
so much has changed in all that time
what was acceptable is not now anymore
our grandparents would see it as a crime
Today's world doesn't seem to be like them
standards just don't exist at all
right is wrong changes to wrong to right
everybody seems all mixed up into the night
So many towns never as they were
nothing but signs for sale or to let
councillors and MPs don't seem to know
what to do or help those who're in debt
There's much violence upon our streets
the days of walking at night so safe
they are no more such is our present state
when will man learn to behave?
The dress code now is appalling
torn jeans, tracksuits all seem norm
simply no decency or standards at all
what a state! please, God, send a storm
In summing up modern man does his thing
not caring, except self-serving alone
but one day this world will be wrapped up
the Almighty will speak 'The End' all silent tone!
(Just some thoughts of my home country Scotland and the state it's in as the times of today compared with our grandparents time with the decline in morality and standards.)
