The Start - a Poem By My Sister

I'm letting you in, but promise me this, Our love won't be bought for the price of a kiss. That my heart can stay guarded, at least for a while, That your patience will last more than just the first mile. I'm letting you love me, small steps at a time; You're weaving your tune through my brutal love-rhyme. Your harmony soars with my melody's pace, And the pure notes are written all over your face. I'm letting you have me, on leasehold for now, I put up defences, you're breaking them down. I'm letting you in, we're starting to run, I'll let you know, one day, you might be the one.
