The Stars of the Underground

The stars that glimmer most,
Are the stars often mistaken for stones
For they are not stones-
They are monuments of those past,
Who have worked to the bone,
For masterment and marvel,
For love unatoned.

What a succinct beauty you have here. The ones mistaken for stones are perhaps like agate ... where all the good stuff is hidden inside. I may be taking a different meaning here, but I can't help but think of the Underground Railroad, where people risked their lives to free slaves before and during the Civil War. In any case your message is a strong one ... very well expressed!

Stars that burn for the sake of raw, firey beauty are like hearts that bloom for the instincts of love alone...this what your verse invokes in me Laura...J.A.B.
