The Splendor of a Blade of Grass
On an especially epiphany-laden day
I contemplated the beauty that comes from decay
How growth blossoms from a compost heap,
How the tulips from a manure pile leap
I remembered my moments in the pit of despair
And how right after I found a beautiful "elsewhere"
I recalled how struggle led me to the nearest hope
Packaged like a letter in an envelope
Though I felt my mind was bloviating a platitude
It was one which stoked my infirm gratitude
So I found my solace in such a mundane action;
Taking out the trash and awash in abstraction
