The Space You Leave
The Space You Leave
I have grown fond of the silence you left,
Not empty,
Just echoing Grace.
It wears your scent in quiet corners,
And breathes like you
In every space.
Your laugh still lingers in the air,
A melody the dusk replays,
Soft as secrets in the dark,
Bold as light
that never stays.
I don’t speak of missing you,
Not quite.
But if I did,
It would sound like this:
A pause,
A look,
A low half-smile,
A memory...
I wouldn’t dare dismiss.
Come back,
Even if it is just to tilt the room,
With nothing more
But your perfume.
Oh the space you leave
