The Space Between Us

Sometimes the space between us feels un-natural,
Like part of me is missing.
These times I think of touching your shoulder
With my finger, tracing the outline of your body
With my hand. Where each curve leaves an outline
I long to fill with parts of me.
You are the luxurious softness I fall into.
You meet me in my yearning,
Pressing your softness against where I am hard.
Like a hard rain pressing on a soft rose,
Whose thirst absorbs the quenching rain,
Drinks it in, transforms it into life.
In the after-shower there is a rainbow,
Colors merge into warm light.
I don’t want to be your valentine,
I just want to hold you in my arms forever,
Press my cheek to yours and breathe your honey hair.
Buried there, I can feel you pressed against me.
As I touch you, a rose blossoms and
The doors to Heaven
Open once again.
