The Sound of Love
There is so much to be said
My earliest memory,
It was the sound of love
It meant trust and security
It set boundaries
It gave comfort and refuge
It championed and encouraged
It cautioned
It corrected and chastised
More could be understood from one word
Than from a whole book
Unique in its familiarity
And for those fortunate souls
For whom, its song is still possible
It means everything
A mother’s voice
