The Sonnet Man Speaks
Without poetry, what words would we quote,
When we want to sound smarter than we are?
And, what do we say when they ask who wrote,
"The greatest words that I have heard thus far?"
Without poetry, what songs would we sing,
And, tell me, how would these wordless songs sound?
How much joy could these simplicid songs bring?
Where would the appreciation be found?
Without poetry, how would we make love
To each other, without touching at all?
Standing still, while pulling words from above
That weaken knees, causing angels to fall.
A world without poetry looks so bleek
To those who need creative words to speak.
