The Soldier

I saw a battled frame housing a black and white photo of a hero in war, proudly posing hiding his fear, his fragility some family's pride and country's creased, in a junk shop

sad but true. I love vintage photos, especially the sepia ones. I always feel empty and sad when I find a picture of a man in his uniform, a hero, as you called him. I always wonder, "How did this end up here? Whatever happened to the man? his family?" The stuff poems and novels are made of. Nice write..Enjoyed it and am faving it, Sara

Hi Sara, I didn't want to write a wordy, lengthy poem about it as I thought keeping it brief would add to us knowing nothing about the man in the photo. I'm so pleased someone liked it enough to have it as a favourite, thank you so much
