The Soil, So Rich
The soil so rich
tall corn grew true
The milk was sweet
from our Bessie's teat
We worked the land
for fifty years
We reaped with joy
what we sowed midst tears
Raised three fine sons
who now carry on
Our legacy, the earth
in death, as in birth
