The Social Implications of Special Relativity

Relativity’s science has its place, yet surprises us with social rhyme. For if you say you need your space, then be prepared to give me time. For if expanding space for you then contracts your time with me, perhaps we'll need to soon undo our bonds of relativity

Mark, when someone says they need "space," like you I tend to wait and see if they return at a time when I'm receptive. It's often a herald of a relationship falling apart. Those "bonds of relativity" can be quite frail. Well said!

Carolyn, gosh I'm so very late responding to you on this one. Thanks for these lovely comments. I hope to get back into the swing of the Soup one of these days. My muse has been in intensive care for some time now.

Yes, yes, yes. Love it. A concept that I have only been discussing recently with others on-line, but this perspective is original, and so very, very you. I'll look to tweeting this soon if I may.

Loved this !! So true and so relevant. Yes... we complain of needing our own 'space', but what of others in need of our time. The reason we were put on tis earth... to help and show love to those in need.

Isn't it amazing that sublime utterance in any noble domain of reason garners universal appeal. Thank you so much for the nobility of your reasoning.

Another superlative piece from you, my friend. I love the brevity and how well it flows. I especially enjoyed lines 3 &4; they really connected and resonated with me. Excellent work, Mark :)

Thanks, Chan. You must have heard more than once someone saying, "Hey, I need my space." They don't always realize that this will take time. Fun with words.
