The Snowfight

THE SNOWFIGHT

We were caught by the neighbourhood tough guys:
Him and me against six of the wrong kids to meet.

Snowballs began to fly. They out-gunned us, and worse,
They shoved ice chunks into their harmless white missiles.

Hit your head? Painful. In the eye? Serious damage.
We ran but I could outrun him, and did so, saved myself.

He was alone to face the onslaught while I hid, coward.
He never said or did anything to punish me. Made me feel bad.

So bad, I was never again a coward. I was eight years old then.

Hi Sydney What we do as children! It's funny looking back it seems like that was someone else.Part of the learning process as we grow up.Except for those who haven't matured as adults so sadly haven't changed.I liked this very realistic view of childhood.Perhaps as it was 6 against 2 you acted out of self-preservation and your little mate realised he should have done the same.and that's why he didn't have a go at you.? We'll never know.but I do know I enjoyed this trip to your past luv June
