The Smile You Share

The smile you share This morning so fair, I face unaware, its cool flowing air or soft sunrise glare, bright tangerine flair, I’ve nary a care As since you are there, I can’t help but stare your beauty I swear, answered my prayer, for the smile you share, nothing can compare 1/5/17 Written for the Rhymers delight- internal monorhyme Poetry Contest Sponsored by John Hamilton I used the syllable counter and have 10 per line, apparently it is counting “prayer” as two syllables.

I guess the syllable counter thinks a pray-er is someone who prays - which is two syllables. Good that you checked this manually! Congrats on your win Chris! :-)

Well done, Chris! That wide smile is contagious:) I think judges should give the benefit of the doubt where syllable counts are debatable. Your 'prayer' would have sounded better were it to be read as one syllable. ~ Regards // paul

Sometimes have to laugh at the syllable counter on PoetrySoup. How many syllables in "prayer touch ruse"? Apparently the answer is 6! : P Wicked good job, Chris. : ) (May have to brew up some strong tea myself and take a crack at this contest. But wow, one has to find a big group of words with the same ending sounds, to begin with...)

And I would go ahead and make it "has answered my prayers."

"Walked" also has two syllables, apparently. :p I even tried "waiked" in case there was some weirdness with the "L" and the "I" but it only showed one syllable for "waiked." It's funny - for "how many syllables are in 'walked," it shows "2." Then below, it gives a list of "Words that rhyme with walked and also have One Syllable." The last one mentioned is "walked." Yeah, I know what you mean but I wasn't sure what or who would determine the syllable count, since the rule require 10 per line. I had that line written as " has answered my prayers", but, I was outnumbered. ;) Thanks so much my friend.

I love the "morning so fair" and "beauty I swear" - they compliment each other nicely! Good luck on the contest! (Those syllables can be very tricky!
