A nut-brown squirrel wore his smile in a curl, such a clever one was he. He ate nuts and fruit in his nut-brown suit in my avocado tree. He gave me such lip, and never did tip, and ate my harvest for free.

Thanks Margaret! In the two houses I lived in from 1991 to 2021, I had avocado trees, and in both places, the squirrels were my nemeses. They would take a few bites out of each avocado. Too, bad that you don't get avocados. Nowadays, I buy them on every trip to the store.

Thanks Kim! I think I just improved it by putting the final stanza in past tense to make it match the other stanzas. This is my favorite type of poem to write, even though it is about my arch nemesis, the squirrel.
