The Silent Kiss
For me, a silent kiss meant goodbye and the last time
I felt that way was when I walked him out from my birthday
party and stopped by the door, where he gave me a silent
kiss on my forehead, and then walked to his car.
He sensed throughout the party that my feelings for him
were gone, so the silent kiss meant goodbye for both of us.
That was four years ago, but now
it has a new meaning for me.
The silent kiss means a deep emotional
connection beyond physical attraction.
I met him seven years ago in a dance class.
We became friends, and then dance partners.
We have a platonic friendship that never
crosses the romantic line, so the silent kiss he
gives me and the silent kiss I give him when we
say goodnight after our night of dancing is an
expression of appreciation and blessing.
For us, the silent kiss is an affectionate gesture
of a great friendship full of care, respect, and love.
