Notes About The Poem
This lyric poem was awarded 6th place in the contest 'A Gospel Song,' sponsored by Regina McIntosh. I am incredibly grateful for the recognition.
The Servant's Flight
Verse 1
I bow my head in quiet prayer,
And thank You for this solitude.
A tender voice breathes through the air,
And speaks of grace to be renewed.
I leave behind my doubts and fears,
To dry away my clouded tears.
Chorus
Guide me toward salvation, Lord,
And use this servant’s faulty steps.
Your mighty power is my sword,
Your grace has reached my darkest depths.
Verse 2
No earthly riches will I prize,
No passing fame or worldly pride.
Encouraged by Your strength, I rise,
For You are constantly by my side.
You set my crooked pathways straight,
And lead me through heaven’s gate.
You cover me when storms are vast,
And keep me till the dark has passed.
Chorus
Guide me toward salvation, Lord,
And use this servant’s faulty steps.
Your mighty power is my sword,
Your grace has reached my darkest depths.
Outro
So I will soar on eagle’s wings,
Above the chaos, bold and free.
Redeemed by Christ, my spirit sings,
From now to praise the King of kings.
