The Senate's That Way
The Senate’s That Way
By J.R. Wren
To this lens say this, to that mic say that
In the hall smile big, but scowl on the floor
Gold rings and tie bling, look to the big cat
Appear to work hard. None see, “Hit the door!”
“Remove the Tycoon, as soon as you can.”
Crumpling paper will make good news of fray
“The Deep should be heeded, obey the man!”
Everyone knows the Senate’s that way
The lower floor says, “those states should be blue”
Steal, Mull o’er, Crumpled Paper. And Cellar.
“Votes don’t matter! Paper, say what we say is true!”
“Here the Articles! Celebrate and beller.”
“It’s Urgent! It can wait till -- come what may”
You with the gavel, the Senate’s that way!
