The Secret
If I tell you my secret, a secret then
It will no longer be.
My secret is only my secret when
It is only known by me.
I cannot enter your secret contest
For I’m truly not adept
At keeping secret a precious secret
When it has not been kept.
I’ve written of my troubles and foibles
Even when the laugh’s on me.
Please let me keep my last held secret,
So a secret it will be.
