The Seasons of You

I saw it the first time we met,
your face like a Spring day, youthful...fresh
a blossoming smile like new leaves unfurling
tasting the Spring air for the first time.

Your eyes as clear as two new born stars radiating
into my head like fork lightening, I knew then I
would spend the rest of my life with you.

Your personality emanating like Summer
it was like laying down in a field of Poppies
on a beautiful clear Summer day...carefree.
breathing new life into me.

Then as your illness got worse, it was like Autumn
slowly watching your leaves falling one by one, but
even at your worst, you never complained.

So thankfully you have no Winter
I remember carrying you up the stairs for the first time
you were in great pain... as i looked into your eyes
I could see it was Spring all over again...

David, I read your sorrowful but lovely lines twice and still didn't know how to respond with something that would be appropriate, so I'll just say, "I feel the compassion and love in your heart. Your last line moistened my eyes, and I hope Spring will last a very long time for you this time." My best to you both to enjoy all the happiness you can share. ~
