The Seashell and the Child....

As the tides slowly recede

Remnants left upon the shore

Reflecting beneath the sunlight

That bathes them now, from beyond the once obscure depths

Shimmering and glistening, souvenirs to soon be found and held

By the eager eyes of a childs tender hands

Whom shall rescue them, from their once solitude

No longer their existence without a purpose

For a gleeful heart will bring them home

To be treasured, for countless years to come

And the tales which they shall both then share

Within the smiling whispers amid the night

Innocence of purities never ceasing hearts

Still capable of dreaming, all things beautiful and true

Enchatings impossible, beyond the imaginaries of hope

Stories from the waters, that washed them across all time

Into the warmth of a perfect child

That breathed the breath of belonging, for them both

Through the many magical wonders, of unsullied sight

Thousands of years upon their journies, to this destiny they have arrived

Beneath the glories of Heavens always knowing

Their fate, and their final resting place

In the softness of the endlessness, of the majestical splendors of a child

Where through they crossed these dark and murkened currents, to someday arrive

To be loved within restoration, was their longing and belief

All along as they journied, through this realm of translucent space

This place between nothing, toward these havens of faith

Dlivered from the shadows, into the light of conditions no more

Belonging to their finding, a million stories to be unveiled

To the amazement of a child, whom saw their reason from afar

As with joy they embraced them, and held them close to their heart

Cast upon the shores, glittering treasures beneath this sun

Gathered by the hands, of a perfect one

Beyond the night, it was love, that finally won

The reasons for it all, wrapped eternally, within the purities from above....

Your gift for reaching the reader's heart always amazes me, John. Even as an adult, I am fascinated the "glittering treasures." In fact, I collect and use them in artwork. And I love the way you describe the child's "tender hands" that rescue them. This great poem can be appreciated on many levels, but I enjoy thinking about the "child" on the beach. Wonderful work! Love, Carolyn

Oh, this is beautiful. Reminds me of many years ago when my little family was visiting the North Carolina east coast and my daughter (around the age of 5 or 6) would walk down the shore line picking up shells...in her late 20's now, she still has those shells...

Howdy hey, John! This is an amazingly beautiful write..lovely imagery. In truth, assuredly a child will pick up and treasure something that many might walk past. This piece flows and shimmers, as though it were trapped in a pool on the shore. How many magical secrets might lie hidden within a shell, that only a child could hear. Wonderfully penned, John! Wishing you the best! God bless you and yours...hugs and love to you, Mikki

John each word you write paints such a vivid picture. I can feel the excitement of the child as she finds her most beautiful treasure. When my boys were young I got them both a treasure box and they were filled with lucky rocks, wasp nests, wonderful treasures that adults pass by without notice. Each sentence is so rich with description and I am glad to have read it. Laurie

Thank you for another magical journey, dear John. I collect sea shells, for I feel about them as you have described them. I find them enchanting, magical and preceious, like your writing. The fact, you can hear the ocean roar when you hold them to your ear, confirms they are gifts from God. I had a wonderful white Christmas with my family. I will convey your message to my mother. She is coming with us to North Carolinia . Much love to you and yours, Lainie

John this is truly a masterpiece. It is one of my all time favorites. The love that you show through your word's of innocence of a child and what he or she find's beautiful that God created is awsome. The word's are crafted with your heart and soul and mind and holy spirit through Christ John. This is just remarkable. I am so proud of you John this is just so touching and beautiful and sensitive and has love through it. I wish more people could read this. It has definitely touched my heart.GBU

wonderful poem John. The title drew me in seeing that I am a caribbean boy who adores the deep blue. This is captured so well. I just love your heartfelt writes and how you display your heart. Love your brother.

I love this poem, John. One of our favorite things while at the beach with the children in the family, collecting seashells. For Christmas I received a sweet little picture frame with glued seashells all around it, made with loving hands from my 7 year old grandson! (Had his school photo included, of course!) Love the poem!! ~ Carrie
