The Scottish Part of Me

I haven’t sailed her rocky shores,
peered through her misty veils,
but clansman blood runs thru my veins.
Fore-fathers climbed her trails.

I long to see highlands and meadows,
the lochs and the glens and more,
to seek fabled Loch Ness monster,
part of exciting Scottish lore.

Is there some one resembling me
still living in this distant land?
Does he proudly wear his Scottish kilts
as he marches in bagpipe band?

The poems of renowned Bobby Burns
have appealed to poet in me.
My Scottish roots are calling out
to unravel the mystery.

All the Scots I've know have strong moral character so I'm not surprised you have Scottish ancestry, Joyce. If you do want to travel to Scotland, I'll go with you if you'll dive in Loch Ness with me. A land of pageantry, scenery and incredible history. Surely a big winner in Thvia's contest! Love, Carolyn

This is a great poem with good rhythm and verse Joyce, good luck in the contest. My heritage is Irish-1/2, Scottish 1/4, and Seminole Indian 1/4, so I can relate to this poem.
