The Rose
The Rose memoralized by William Shakespeare
Has been on Earth for thirty-five million years.
Did she dazzle in this pre-historic existence?
Did her beauty bring the dinosaurs to tears?
Dispite her age the Rose is still a winner.
She's the queen of all of flowerdom today.
New varieties entrance and scents enchant me
As I walk along my rose-lined walk-a-way.
No other flower has so long a season.
None other comes in such beguiling dress.
The lover chooses her to woo his lady
Who takes his gift and holds it to her breast.
She comes in all the latest styles and colors.
Her scents are aphrodisiacs to the nose.
With nothing in the whole wide, world as lovely
Of course my favorite flower is the Rose.
