The Root of Unity

You asked me to write about  Family You unleashed the love I always carry in me My own flesh and blood My endearment within but an ocean not a flood My being and centre of gravity That's who I am  That's my family. You asked me to write about  Family You let flow my very adoration and yearning The memories of the nearest and dearest still burning The deep rooted tree, the kinship harmony and bond The time together I cherish and am of fond It was a unity I miss my family. You asked me to write about  Family I worship care, devotion, values and beliefs In me built unconditionally The prayers and convictions that helped my soul be Never can I for granted take What is genuinely given not fake Shall I say thank you?  Or is it a "cliché"! ? A formality?  Well, all the recognition, all the credit for my family. You asked me to write about  Family A deep wound you unseal The ache you unveil is a heap Unlock the gate of our home wide Void is there dwelling inside Stories, portraits, sorrow and delight I long for what is black and white I mourn my family. You asked me to write about  Family What if, one day A dream awakens the soul of me My family is now in the world of me My dad of age would have been more than eighty Loving as ever whispering to God in serenity My mum powerful as she used to be Would have been now my baby Our house once sinking into oblivion Would have been once again a home in joviality My family the root of my unity All the love for my family.

The first line is profoundly accurate of people who are angry, but never speak of it. I think you could use that line again and again.

Your introspection and empathy have leaped onto the front line in this poem, Amy. You are right, twenty years from now, you will be sitting, quietly, and this will all come racing back into your mind, and you will smile.

The feeling is like nothing I have ever experienced. Getting that look from you. I need to accept that it's not in my control. My friend got married yesterday, and with your permission, Renee, I want to share this beautiful poem with her.

Michael, it is amazing how fast and adequately and tightly we can box ourselves. The key to growth is to realize it and do something proactive and productive about it.

Emotionally I'm buried alive. This sentence says so much, and includes the suffering of many others. Well done, Donna! And brave.
