The Role of a Lifetime
Oh, I know the sun will again shine
And again the flowers will bloom,
As the night falls the stars will shine
And dispel the darkness and gloom.
But sadly I will not be there
Nor will there be my grief and woe,
When the sun again rises to share
its warmth and the rejuvenating glow.
The one question that will remain
in my heart and burden my soul:
Did I live my life in vain,
Or did I play well my role?
But how will I ever know
I did my part good or bad,
That when I finally go
My folks will be happy or sad?
I guess never will I find out
after I am dead and out of sight,
Only when I am alive and stout
is my chance to set things right!
