The road to Rome
I walk this road alone
Searching for my home
There is no one on the street
except for the birds in the trees.
They are the migrant birds from the east
that reside in the trees
and have travelled thousands of miles to see me
to support me and to keep my company
as we await the unknown of our destiny.
I woke up to the sound of chirping birds in my ears
Horses, mules, donkeys, cows, sheep
Mooing, braying, and bleating everywhere
And the dogs chasing after cars
And everyone and anything they see in the street.
the traffic keeps flowing, and my heart keep burning
The village people roll slowly out of their beds
With big yawn and loud sneeze complaining about the heat
It has been like this for a couple of days,
And I just can’t find a comfortable place to stay.
The temperature is really warm
And my distance friend is getting ready to travel abroad
Their expectations are very high
But the weather will probably bid them goodbye.
The road to Rome is long
But keep walking the universe will cheer you on
The road to Rome has many trees
Burn scars mountains,
and a special road that leads to heaven
But when the eyes get dim, destiny will take you in.
The road to Rome is not pleasure, the road to Rome
Is embedded with sorrows
Prepare a room for me there, for I have a lot to share
It’s not a room with a view,
but a room that can accommodate me and you
It must capture the ambiance of nature
And set the perfect scene for tomorrow
I must feel the wind on my skin
And walk to the village where I can sing
And feast in the vineyard of grapes grown there
And create harmony everywhere.
The road to Rome is long
But I must get there to sing my song
The path to Rome is clear
I will continue walking until I get there
I will run, I will jump, I will crawl
And I will hop into the bus
And get to Rome without a fuss
The road to Rome is clear
I will meet you there
