The Road To Heartbreak

The road to heartbreak Remember when you... started searching for love Even though it has escaped you... you have never given up Bridge Desperation may have led you down.. that desolate lonely road so many travel on... the road to heartbreak Chorus Your heart has long traveled on love's elusive highway... And you've had a few breakdowns along the way but, still you keep driving on hoping till all hope is gone determined to find true love but, in your case...there's no escape from... the road to heartbreak The years roll by... seems like just yesterday but the mirror tells the tale of the road to heartbreak Bridge Desperation may have led you down.. that desolate lonely road so many travel on... the road to heartbreak Thirst spurs you on... love's around the next bend but it's a mirage once again on this road to heartbreak Chorus Your heart has long traveled on love's elusive highway... You've had a few breakdowns along the way but, still you keep driving on hoping till all hope is gone determined to find true love but, in your case...there's no escape from... the road to heartbreak Remember when you... started ... searching ... for ... love repeat and fade to zero John Derek Hamilton August 16, 2019

Nah, it's a tried and true formula, heartbreak is the most relatable theme, so I merely keep drawing from the well, and it seems to work, thanks for your kind words Brenda!

Thanks Connie, it's the most relatable theme in songwriting, so if it's not broken...keep writing them. I too would like to hear it sung, and so the quest continues for a singer!

i remember that dusty road/smoke filled trails/beneath mists of rain/that always fell heavier at night/my pulse skipping/like a broken record/beneath the fades of our song/ as your quickened footsteps/echoed back/beneath the screech of tires on asphalt....sorry this one struck a cord with my muse...i think we all remember those heartbreaks....good penning John, as you can tell i liked this one~ :) hugs

lol...i used to be friends with a singer, songwriter years ago on social media and i always wrote something in response to his songs in poetic rambles....we only ever spoke muse to muse, never person to person...that was before i found a new poetry site to call home ( from the mid 90's through till 2006, i was on aol's writing corner, mostly as a judge but wrote from time to time, when it folded i didn't have a place to write, so when my muse acted up, i responded poetically, it was kind of fun!)
