The Road Less Traveled
I traveled the road of ease till I could not any more
It left bad memories and disenchantment
Not able to hold my head high and see the wrong
I came to a fork in my path, I sat and pondered
Which pathway shall I chose to go?
Down the well-traveled path knowing what lay there?
To certain disappointment and heartache?
Many have traveled this path unhappily
You can see them along the way sitting there
Just existing, not living at all, broken
Looking down the less traveled path
I don’t see anyone along the way, curious
I set out down the pathway to see why
I came upon a sign that read
You are worthy never doubt it
Hmmm, plodding along I went on
I encountered kindly old gentleman
He looks up saying to me
“I see you made it my dear.”
Confused I asked did he know me
“Yes my dear I have watched you struggle,
Guided you along the way, carried you
When the burdens too heavy for you”
Seeing I was still confused he continues
“Many take the easy way out and follow the crowd
But you in your time of need followed
The less traveled pathway, I will guide you
As long as you stay on this pathway”
It dawned on me who he was
I had forgotten so much of what I learned
God didn’t forget me but guided me
He put me on the road less traveled
To keep me safe in his love for me.
