The Refrain

Poetry to be had in most
everything -- the ceiling fan for
instance, it's off now; heat slicing
blades silenced --
            a ticking clock becoming more
apparent, poetry in the on-wall
antique as well; thinking that if only
crystal moderns we could have outlawed --
keeping strong the heartbeat refrain of old pendulum
swingers....a wind, a fond nudge
when needed, and animation resumes rhythmic
and unimpeded. I miss you.

Yes, thank you, Sara: Poetry is really only saying things with deeper, more aware commitment. Treatment of words in such a way that gives the reader desire and space for personal mental, spiritual interaction. In short, poetry is more thoughtful. To be poetic involves heartfelt communion on a creative level that does not exist even with dear, profound prose. Great prose often exhibit strong poetic language. My 2 cents on the subject.

Hi Joe; feeling my age. The bigger picture matters little to me lately. Missing the little baubles of affection, and the people that made me happy. Circumstances I had more empathy with.
