The Red Admiral

Ignoring the distance prohibition
    I was visited today by an audacious caller
          Defiantly coming within an inch of me
                And waving  three times before
                    Taking flight as swiftly as he had appeared;
                           No doubt believing that his status outranked
                                     Transient man-made stipulations!

Ha, working for the Navy, I've known some Admirals who fell "above the rules", then I googled Red Admiral and realized your visitor was an audacious butterfly who hadn't been briefed on the laws of the land! Oh, I love it! "His status outranked man-made stipulations" So witty! ~ John

Ah! That explains the comment below. It is a species very common to the British Isles, John and thankfully Brian Strand was the judge!!

Yes, everyone likes to think they're the exception to the rule - hope he didn't cough on you!
