The Rape of a Black Woman
A Black woman was raped last night
I wasn't there, wasn't even anywhere
near the horrific incident
But I could hear
her screams and yells loud and clear
And now my tears hit the Earth
with extreme force
because of the remorse that I feel.
Feels as if she was killed
and her spirit was revealed
unto me so that I could see
how a Black woman looks
after her sacredness has been
shaken and took.
A Black woman was raped last night
and I heard that there were Black men
that were present then
But didn't even try to defend (her)
because they felt less than men
and therefore couldn't win
Yes,
she was raped by a White man
who couldn't stand the fact that
his white was less than her/our black
So he felt that he had to attack
the most precious jewel of existence
and steal from her her incandescence
to make her no longer feel precious
So that this negative essence
will create a domino effect
in the rest of the Universe's best
that would make Us feel less and less
so that the cycle continues for us to
dis-respect, and neglect one another
as Sisters and Brothers.
Yes,
a Black woman was raped last night
The Sun doesn't shine as bright
The Moon is no longer in sight.
