The Pumpkin

THE PUMPKIN

The pumpkin smiled
like a child
with a few teeth
a bright exuberance
that lit up the night
a candy-filled carrying case
a beautiful place
for the human race
a harvest cornucopia
delighting the prunish*
exciting thoughts of utopia
