The Pulse of the World
I opened my ears
to the pulse of the world
and I heard her crying...
I tried to breathe
and smell the earth
but there was naught...
I opened my eyes
to see the beauty in the world
but she was barren...
I put my hand out
to to console the earth
but she was gone...
I tried to open my mouth
to speak the truth
but I could not.
I opened my ears
to the pulse of the world
and she was crying...
And I didn't know what to do about it...
And so I cried as well.
