The Proposal: Six Relatives
I got up in the morning
because my mom yelled,
as she usually does……
Everyone was busy with their own work
That my mother had assigned…
When I entered the kitchen,
Mom said to me, “Don’t laugh too much.
You should be more polite today”…
She laughed loudly with her friends
while I was passing the kitchen…
Then I entered the living room and
Dad said to me, “Don’t talk too much.
You should be more careful today”.
My Dad hated talkativeness…
I felt my head a mere mayhem,
so I sneaked into my room.
Then my sister said to me,
“Be ready; Don’t think too much”.
But she is the one that thinks too much...
After I wore my saree, my little sister came
and applied some makeup soon..
Then she said, “You look beautiful”.
She always admires my beauty…
Finally, my brother and sister- in law
entered my room and said,
“Matchmaker won’t come today…
But don’t worry. We’re here to help you.
My soul sobbed, asking me,
“Is this the last time?”
