The Promise - Part III

drenched in the rain
rains that are cold as ice,
winds that are smooth as newly paved cement
I am drenched
drenched in a winter rain? (it rarely rains here....)
my hands
hands that held roses
beautiful red roses, that slipped from my grasp
my hands have been shaking since I arrived
shaking uncontrollably, now the tears
my tears
but his hands
and then his fingers tangled in mine
and his rough skin (in comparison to mine)
we were drenched, together in the freezing rain
and I tried to resist --- energy, music, chemistry, poetry, synergy, him, and me

yesterday was happening all over again
but you said it wouldn't, as did I

but you promised...
