his final journey in a huge black limousine death comes to us all the funeral cost he won’t have to pay the bill ... grieving relatives!!!!!! I know the florists make a 'killing' out of death no wreathes when I'm gone! I don’t want any floral tributes when I die give me flowers now! I would much prefer charitable donations Hospice benefit! 10/18/18

Wise, indeed, I think both weddings and funerals should be small, intimate, and simple (especially like 'give me flowers now')

Hi Jan, I love the content of your Senryu. Myself, put me in an orange crate for all I care. The cost of Funerals is forever rising. Your creativity is ever rising with such wonderful poetic gems. Your imagination is ever alive and thriving in your work. It is a pleasure to read you again. Have a wonderful weekend, Hugs....Mike. XX

Beer and wine indeed, and yeah Jan, flowers NOW, and preferably in the garden so you can enjoy them for a long time.

When you can make us giggle about mortality. That's talent!!!

I agree. I don't want a funeral at all - no embalming, no procession, no wasted money on wreaths. i want a green burial without a headstone, to relieve my kids from the guilt of having to make a regular pilgrimage to that place.

I am similar with my thoughts Agnes, I'm being cremated and my ashes are to be scattered at a place we love - got it written in my will so there is no problem with my wishes not being clear:-) hugs jan xx

Your so right Jan, immediate family flowers I can understand but if people want to remember someone give a donation to a hospice or a charity where it can do some good. Tom

The irony of flowers at a funeral...something beautiful that has been cut from it's life sustaining roots only to die after a few days. I'm with you Jan. I just want beer at my funeral. : )

Good way to look at it, Chris. The killing of flowers is only adding more death to a sad event.

I'm with Anne-Lise. I want to see and smell my flowers...can't do that after death. So what prompted this one?

I've stipulated I want no flowers at my funeral - I want to enjoy them whilst I can see and smell them! Poem inspired by us driving past a hearse and hubby saying 'he's on his final journey'. Regarding the flowers, when I was growing up we lived next door to a florist. She used to give a back hander to the gravediggers to give her the dead wreathes and she would re use the frames. It used to irk me so much I vowed i wouldn't let anyone profit from my death like that:-( hugs jan xx
