Notes About The Poem

The Power of Speech

There was a frank exchange of words.

                  Numerous nouns were fired
in return for s volley of verbs
                            full of venom and fury.

                  Some angry adjectives were thrown
                      in response to arguable adverbs
                            cornered by commas.

A cyclone of consonants and vowels,
                      primed for speed and precision,
                            screamed through the air.

The frank exchange of words was over.

                      The conflict ceased
                             and constraint prevailed.

                      Their sentence was silence
                             ending with a full stop.
