The Port Full of Harbour Ships

'Pon Mt. Edgecumbe lies soft serve ice cream
Being surrounded by fuchsia lips
Wishfully gazed upon by a cobalt blue dream
Over the port full of harbor ships

Colors of the sky predicting snow pretty ugly
The ice cream running down the mountain awfully good
Those waters in the harbor down deep bubbly
Teeming with jumbo shrimp and on the beach driftwood

Sitka, Alaska experiences each day's end
With a sky ending with special delights
Sky and earth seem to together blend
When day seems to slip into the dark night

I really enjoyed this rhyme Sara. I like how you lead the reader into your painted poem. I say painted as when I read it I envisaged a watercolour painted scene. The lines: "Sky and earth seem to together blend' and "The ice cream running down the mountain.." were key to my thinking here. I'll always smile too, when I hear the words "jumbo shrimp": An oxymoron if ever there was one. :) Nice work Sara! Cheers - Gary

Beautiful description of the seaside with many ships anchored in the port. The poem's beauty is augumented by the lovely images. Enjoyed reading your composition, dear Sara

love this about your Mount Edgecumbe - ice cream would apply to ours too (LOL, very expensive ice cream bought from the cafe in that case!)

Jack, Store bought ice cream is usually expensive especially if individually wrapped kind. Your visits always lift my spirits. Sara

The photos are breathtaking as well as this enticing poem. What style is this when you rhyme the first and the third lines with the second and the fourth? Very well done. Enjoyed

Nancy, The rhyme scheme is sort of like that of a sonnet (abab, cdcd, efef and if it were a sonnet I would have ended with gg). Thanks for the visit. Sara

Would love to cruise around Alaska, just back from Norway and had the pleasure of meeting Anne-Lise in Haugesund. A memorable trip that will stay with me forever. Hope you're keeping well Sara. Tom

I can imagine that was the case in Norway. I have only been to Sitka, Alaska in photos from the internet and maybe through a movie or two that I have seen that said they were filmed in Alaska. Sara

Thank you for the high praise, Lasaad. I appreciate the visit and kind review of my work. Don't think too deeply about the lines those because I might have been thinking about some French Fries with mustard. Sara
