I am a poet with a complex life, but thankfully writing helped me survive
               --- Ever since I was a child, I have been writing ---
I have been many things, sometimes shy and quiet, other times outspoken
I’ve been called headstrong, I have also been called independent
But, I am sensitive to what anyone and everyone goes through
I am sensitive to what goes on in the world, some things tear me up
I want to help, to reach people, create positive change, spread care and love
Earlier on, I had to hide my true self to survive, now I live authentically
Most of all, I want to be free to be who I am and pursue my creative goals
To follow my beliefs and make the most I can out of this life I have
I have overcome a lot of obstacles, on a long road, to get where I am now
           --- I hold on tightly to gratitude every day that goes by ---
                --- Life is not easy, but it is about continuing to try ---
