Notes About The Poem

The Poet Warrior

My Dear Enemy
Here I am
In full armor
My quill is full of arrows
My bow is taunt and ready fro battle
My horse is pristine and shiny black
I am your enemy
As you are mine to the death
I shall take my bow and arrow
Pierce you through the heart
My king shall praise and honor me
For many battles so well fought
I know I have to shoot my arrows
To save my own pitiful soul

My dear enemy
I just long for you to know
Every arrow, every drop of blood
Every soul that must depart
Due to my fine skills and sharp arrow darts
I die along with you
I know not who you are
Yet a weep for your lost soul
I imagine other times
Maybe we would sit for tea and cookies
Laughing over words of glee
You and I so battle ready
I am sorry for all the battle scars
The blood that flows so deep
Every arrow that leaves my bow
I am sure it too, also weeps

My Dear Enemy
I prey today that before the dusk
One of you will have a finer bow
My heart no longer has the will
To fill my quill with arrows so
Today, I let one of you end my day
No longer can I live on this way
All my fine arrows fired
Have finally been on target
My Dear Enemy
I love you as any man
I have only love for humanity
I pray one day
Our Kings and Queens shall feel this way
As off the battle field, I am carried away

Love conquers all and I hope the world will realize this one day, too... I truly enjoyed this extraordinarily write. It is so heartfelt and noble flowing from a talented hand. Shall we refer to you as King Arthur? :)

As a poet and archer myself, using the English longbow(traditional archery) I salute you on this great piece. If we as poets do not use blood, sweat and tears in our work then we aren't doing it right. It is a battle to express well our thoughts and inspirations! A7 but this is clearly a ten in my book.

I like this very much, for we all weep a little and bleed a bit over our pages and those of others..well sometimes we weep and bleed for them too. I enjoyed how this occasionally broke into rhyme, but it was not a focus, more as an afterthought or to create tone. well written A 7 and Fave

very unusual work, Arthur. I really enjoyed it. For whom is this one intended? hope I am not an enemy .don't know if I could withstand your sharpened quill!! (was it deliberate the way you spelled pray as prey?)

You have placed yourself through your amazing imagination into the moment. You've allowed us to visualize from afar what your imagination has set to paper as does an artist paints to canvas. Thank you.

Now that you have fired all your arrows I shall cautiously approach and comment! Love how you tackled the poet warrior theme; quite original (but you are usually original!). The use of 'quill' instead of 'quiver' is an interesting point. All the best. // paul

Thank you Paul, was not 100% sure that would work! mis-using the word!
