The Poet

for Anna Akhmatova

This is easy living
Waiting for the Muse to arrive
whispering sweet lullabies
into my plume

You may get a bout
of insomnia, or
wake up before sunrise, or
stay up into

the wee hours
of the night
But it's all part
of the scenario,

the mysterious existence
that transforms the mundane
into kaleidoscopic dreams,
magnificent realities

consolidated onto parchment
or logged into your laptop,
into the realm
of earthly concrete.

My muse loves the wee hours too, Frank, but snatching it's offerings and bringing them into the eartly realm, as you say, can be quite a challenge! I enjoyed this write, thanks for sharing!

Sure made me smile Frank when I first started writing on soup in 2015 I would wake at all hours with a few lines in my head and would have to get up and write them down, now i carry a note pad or have a scrap of paper and jot my thoughts down when my muse is behaving - on the way to mums carehome yesterday I thought of 2 limericks and dashed through the door and wrote them down:-) hugs Jan xx
