The Poems I Never Wrote

The poems I have never written Though they sprung to life in my head Will never be read, silent or aloud, Now, or long after I’m dead. Once, with the sound of them, I was smitten These words which will never be read For some reason, my mind never allowed Even at a slam these poems to be said. Once, on a blank page hand-written, I started to compose them, but instead I wrote a few poems of which I am proud While the other poems went quietly to bed. This is a good one for the contest Milton, those poems you put to bed may wake up one day and beg to be read… Belle

Great write Milt. This is a little more serious than most of the ones I’ve read. For me, there have been more times that I actually had an epiphany, remembered the verse, and actually got it in print to only realize it was not as good as I envisioned. I really can’t explain how this all works or even when a good poem will come together…. The best thing to do is just keep writing them. Good luck!

That is a good point, Mark. I, too, have had, from time to time, what I thought was a good idea, but when I wrote it simply did not merit the time spent on it.

Well written Milton. Craig had an excellent theme for the contest. I don't know how many times I have forgotten something I desperately wanted to write and share. Thanks for sharing...

Oh, me too, and I hate losing a good idea simply because I didn't jot it down. Seems like once they are gone they are gone forever.

Yes, L M, my notebooks are full of these literary gems...oh, wait...no, those are the ones I neglected to jot down when the idea occurred to me. BOL in the contest.

Be sure, Jeff, to note that he isn't accepting any written before October 6th. Why? I'm not sure. I wrote this several days ago, but just posted it.

Nursery. He has turned 4 and he pulls at my heart strings. His autism will be evaluated the 26th of this month for school. His sentences have improved, but still hard for me to understand a lot.

Thank you so much, Eve. I have thought so much about your wonderful little grandson. How is he doing in school?
