The Plague!

The night of the living dead....

Bolted doors and boarded windows

Pressing hands, from room to room

Looking for a breech toward entrance

The shallow cracks, that shall allow them in

Into the hallways, within the darkness

Trying to survive, beyond another night

The night that falls, upon every child

Born in the shadows, of these darkened times

Trapped and afraid, deep inside

These bolted doors and boarded windows

Trying so desperately, their souls, to survive

              The Plague!

Well John, you asked for my opinion and when asked I respond. I hope that the lengthy tirade is over between us now...and that we can return to reading and writing poetry, which is why we came here to this site in the first place is it not. I bare you no ill will John and I wish you every happiness. "The Plague" "Trapped and afraid, deep inside"... sums up all you so eloquently wrote.

Good morning dear John. This reminds me of the village of Eyam, which was a 'Plague Village' near where I used to live in the UK. During the great plague, this christian village chose to shut itself off to prevent other parishes from being infected when plague descended on it in a parcel of cloth from London. 260 souls died but the plague was contained. Love, Nigel
