Notes About The Poem
Seeker's The Pathless Path Contest ~ 5/20/26

The Pathless Path
"this form of dust is by God energised
wherein we are living light housed within
how may this truth be realised
show us oh monk, how to begin" ~ Seeker
From the earth I was born
a speck of dust, a bud waiting to open
unaware at first, where to quench my thirst
to find the certitudes I should seek.
I sensed the need to be humble and meek
but first... I sought the wisdom of a sage
whose age promised I'd find my way
if I opened my mind to the gifts of God.
I listened to the gentle voice speaking aloud
and found I was alone but enlightened,
as if I was floating in a sacred place
far from a burdened and chaotic civilization
as if escaping Thomas Hardy's madding crowd.
The wise one nodded and smiled at me
as if I'd become his mirrored reflection.
I was deep in the blissful state of Chakra
stepping onto a luminant spiritual path
that would lead me to fulfillment. He said,
"It's not a tangent byway that can be found
but a conceptual course within one's soul
to keep your feet from touching the ground."
His echoing words I was straining to hear...
"...waiting is a choice; avoidance a decision.
You cannot control what happens next,
but your response will determine your path.
Listen when Karma speaks to your inner being
of peace, of truths, of things you can enfold.
The seed you plant will become what you've sown
and that determines your life, if truth be told.
The sweet or bitter taste of it will be your own."
His voice faded, but his words served as my guide,
beseeching me to "Live in the here and now
and not to be tempted by foolish pride.
Awareness is the beginning of change
and if it's change that you now wish to seek...
know that sincerity matters more than perfection.
and this is where you must begin."
