The Path of Those Who Treasure Life

       Compassion’s heart, mercy’s gentle touch
          angel’s wings speed to scenes
             of blood, guts and gore
Where, O where has the god of history seen this before …

From the narrow passage at Thermopylae
to the other side of the Rubicon
From the bloody invasion of Jerusalem
to the feats of Genghis Kahn

From the legends of Clara Barton
          and Florence Nightingale
to the haunting sirens of Red Cross Trucks
traversing World War One and Two's living hells

When will mankind follow the path of those who treasure life
lay down their arms ~ end war’s woe and strife

What is going on in Israel holds great promise for a new thoughtful era, of harmony and prosperity for all.... Let us pray that peace can be achieved. I doubt that Hamas will go quietly into the sunset.
