Notes About The Poem
Some things are hard to forget. Some memories are hard to let go of. Somtimes when something happens to remind us of something that happened years ago it can reopen a wound you thought was healed a long time ago. It just depends on how much it hurt when it happened. There are people who have hurt me when I was young that even though today those people have tried to make amends with me and they have even died and gone on to their final reward I have truly not forgiven the pain they caused me and even others. Maybe because they were still hurting me even though I was no longer in their lives with their gossip. Maybe because they still thought I was to blame. Doesn't matter because it is all done and over and whether or not they have forgotten and or sorry or not I have a commandment from my God TO GET OVER IT. He has said if we do not forgive we cannot be forgiven. So I try my best to forgive and move on. When those memories return to harrass me and make me feel angry I have to go to prayer and ask God to forgive them for me and help me to forgive. Hate can send you to Hell. Jesus forgave His tormentors while they were murdering Him. His life and His death was an example for us to follow. DON'T TAKE YOUR ANGER TO THE GRAVE WITH YOU. Let God handle your enemies. You don't have to hang around with those who use and abuse you. You don't have to paint a target on your back and let them take another shot. Get away from them if you can but don't give them the satisfaction of watching you suffer for years after it's over. LIFE IS TOO SHORT FOR THAT AND ETERNITY LASTS FOREVER.
THE PAST IS PASSED
There is so much you can let go of,
If you really want to try.
Stuff that only weighs you down,
That makes you want to cry.
Old regrets, self doubts and hurts,
That drag up pain and anger.
Toss them, ditch them, cast them away,
To self esteem they're danger.
Worries about what could have, should have,
What ifs and if onlys,
Leave you filled up with regrets,
And leave you sad and lonely.
These things are somewhere in the past.
These things are done and over.
It's time to leave the past alone,
And look to days of clover.
Today make that decision.
The past is over, done.
Today, right now is fresh and new.
Look up, embrace the sun.
